Editorial
Welcome to the online issue of African journal of Nursing and Health Issues: a peer-refereed academic journal of a new kind. With its broad scope bridging (yet not limited to) nursing practice, education, administration, and research, the journal is dedicated to a challenge rather than to a topic or an intersection of topics. This challenge is to ensure dissemination of evidence-based information that will provide solid foundation for quality healthcare. Both clinical healthcare practitioners and non-clinical healthcare practitioners at all levels of practice are expected to be acquainted with the basics of translating research discoveries, innovative ideas to promote individual, family and societal health. Hence, the need for this journal.
Most researchers find it difficult to complete the cycle of research process through publication of research findings especially to the right end-users of such information. This journal will expand the opportunity to solving the above-mentioned problem in order to make scientific research findings accessible. It will also provide a solid foundation and source of reference for students at all levels of training, this enhancing their learning and research endeavors.
The journal is officially affiliated with the University of Ibadan. Electronic subscription to the journal is included in the membership benefits. The excellent academic reputation and the outstanding quality of research produced by AJNHI authors and the meticulous assessment by the peer reviewers have been fundamental for the success of AJNHI. We are looking forward to continue working with you.
Methodological and theoretical diversity and plurality have been great strengths of the journal over the past decade that need to be preserved even while it was being published in print. We thus encourage submissions from scholars with different theoretical and methodological approaches within the broad field of comparative social policy research, including rigorous qualitative as well as quantitative research.
The journal includes several original research articles, reviewed papers and reports of systematic reviews. The contents determine the face of the journal and set the stage for subsequent issues, that will publish mostly research papers: experimental, computational and theoretical. At the same time, research papers included here exemplify the kinds of papers that the journal will favor (of course, the set of examples is very sparse).
Using the transformation of this journal to an online entity as an occasion, I would like to thank many people who created the opportunity for the journal to be born and who made it happen to become an online publishing journal. The list includes all current Editorial Board, the Editorial team, and many others especially those who put a lot of his time and energy into this initiative.
